I've seen a lot of crypto security products that solve one half of the problem and ignore the other. Most metal seed-phrase storage protects against physical destruction — fire, water, time — but does nothing about the other failure mode: a card that anyone who finds it can immediately read and drain.

The offline-first philosophy is also worth calling out explicitly. The card itself is the backup — no cloud sync, no proprietary app required to read it, no service that can disappear or be hacked. In ten years you'll still be able to restore from this card with nothing but pen and paper knowledge. That's not true of most "smart" backup solutions.

The open source angle matters too. I can actually read the code and verify there's no hidden telemetry, no server that stores your seed words, no registration wall between you and your recovery. In a space full of trust-me products, "read the code" is the right answer.

If I had a self-custody crypto portfolio and needed a physical backup today, I'd start with the Standard Card and follow the split protocol in the guide.
